Suns surge late to end Knicks win streak

The Phoenix Suns ended their five game road-trip with a win after a fourth quarter surge earned them the win against the New York Knicks on Monday night. The Knicks best win streak in eight years ends at nine but they were beaten by one of the best teams in the NBA this season.

New York started hot, as they went six of seven from the field to begin the game, taking a 13 point lead in the opening minutes. Despite a small push from Phoenix, the Knicks stayed on top and stretched their lead out to 15 before Devin Booker got hot.

Reggie Bullock led the way for New York to begin the game with 12 first quarter points but Booker began to find his groove late in the quarter to close the gap to seven after one.

The Knicks quickly stretched their lead back out to 15 in the second quarter with Derrick Rose dropping six points and five assists.

Again the Suns fought back with Booker having his way with the Knicks defense. Bullock was struggling to deal with the Suns star and found himself in foul trouble early in the second quarter. Despite Bookers domination the Knicks hung on to their seven point advantage heading into the second half. HT: Suns 56-63 Knicks.

New York were under pressure from the beginning of the third quarter but managed to keep the Suns at arms length with Julius Randle starting to find his shot. Phoenix threatened to take the lead throughout the quarter as they consistently closed to within one score of the Knicks.

The Suns were struggle to get stops but they took their first lead of the game with 1:31 left in the third quarter off the back of a 10 point quarter from Devin Booker, who remained a thorn in the Knicks defense. A quick six points from Miles Bridges put the Suns up two but an Obi Toppin alley-oop levelled the scores going into the fourth.

The Knicks wrestled the lead back early in the fourth but this was short lived as the Suns began to hit from deep. Cam Johnson began the game 0-8 from the deep but stepped up in the final period with a treble of three's to push the Suns into the lead before Miles Bridges and Chris Paul iced the win.

After giving the Suns their first lead in the third, Bridges followed a three ball up with an emphatic dunk to stretch Phoenix's lead to nine.

As they always do, the Knicks remained gritty and stayed in touch but a few bad turnovers were capitalized on by Chris Paul, who hit the last seven points for Phoenix to give the Suns a 3-2 record on their road-trip and an eight point margin of victory on the night!

Derrick Rose did his best to keep New York in the game in the fourth as he dropped 10 points to give him 22 pts 6 rebs & 6 assists on the night to lead the Knicks while Devin Booker notched up 33 points for Phoenix with Chris Paul & Miles Bridges each adding 20.
